Sustainability is a term given to describe the triple goal of socially just, environmentally sound and economically viable development. Hospitals stand at the centre of sustainable development because of their significant contribution to human well-being.

The well-being and safety of patients and staff is the number one priority in any hospital. However, it is also in the interest of hospitals to reduce their environmental load and contribute to a cleaner environment.

This is for the simple reason that:"cleaner environment equals more healty human beings".
Sustainable HealthCare is a joint Swedish initiative.
Our aim is to promote economically affordable solutions that contribute to the health and well-being of the patients and staff, while decreasing the environmental load from hospital operations.

We also aim to identify and initiate pilot projects that contribute to more sustainable hospitals. We believe that more sustainable hospitals can make a significant contribution to the well-being of society as a whole. Sustainable HealthCare is a project lead by Sustainable Business Hub. Partners are Business Region Göteborg and Hälsoteknikalliansen. It is financed by Tillväxtverket, Region Skåne, Sustainable Business Hub, Business Region Göteborg, Västra Götalandsregionen, Hälsoteknikalliansen and participating companies.
